This part of the week was fun.. in a way. Yesterday I’ve got the news that a girl from my dancing classes died in her sleep and that my favourite shoes can’t be fixed. And now I’m looking for new favourite shoes but I can’t find them.

But next to that: Chiels birthday was yesterday & we went to a story-telling-festival today in Alden Biesen which is BEAUTIFUL.
I’ve been there on sunday for photos and on monday I heard we went to the story-telling-festival on wednesday :’). So I said to everyone: it’s so beautiful there! I brought my camera and TADAAAH: gorgeous photos ^^.

AND Anja will give me a polaroid without a battery but that doesn’t matter :’) it is still a polaroid ^^. Thank you, my love!

I’ve went to the library today and I brought 2 french films and 3 french cd’s with me. I’m totally into french films, they are so pure!

56. Inkheart

OMG! FINALLY! They made a film about the book Inkheart. I read two books of the trilogy and I still have to read the third one because they hadn’t translated it yet. Anyway, there is a film of the first part! I always loved the books, and I think the books still will be better than the film. But that doens’t mean I’m not going to enjoy it! Inkheart is written by Cornelia Funke (Hart van inkt in Dutch) but I think the second book is better than the first one… But that’s just my opinion.

55. Jane Austen

A woman, especially, if she has the misfortune of knowing anything, should conceal it as well as she can.

                                             – Jane Austen

I started to appreciate Jane Austen’s work. At first I thought it was easy to be called “one of the most widely read and most beloved writers in English literature”. Anyone could write Pride & Prejudice. But maybe I was wrong about that. Writing love stories is delicate and it should be treated with careful hands. You can write a love story, without thinking, but it hardly can be called a love story. A real love story touches the heart, moves people. And only the greatest writers of all time can accomplish that. Although it is pure nonsense, we all know there are no Mr. Darcy’s anymore, we still have high hopes. And afterwards we fall deep.

Jane Austen never was married and she was totally right about that. Women were always expected to know nothing. If you were intelligent, talented or your humour a bit ironic it would be pushed away and locked up in yourself. It would never come back out again if you still wanted to keep your husband or not ruin your reputation.
That’s why boys these days still want stupid fake-blond girls. Maybe the feeling that he is smarter than the girl makes him happy. But I, as a young and independent women, shall not be tricked by that. I shall never lock away my talents nor my knowledge. As I think of knowledge as the most powerful weapon on earth and the key to freedom. It can also be used for manipulation although women hardly use knowledge for that. I don’t care if I have to spend the rest of my life without a husband. I’d rather die then have to give up everything I’ve worked for so far. I think I’ll never be able to love a man in a honest way, without thinking that he doesn’t mean it.

It has been ages since I’ve posted another column. But I think I can be proud of this one.
